Absolutely Abstract runs from October 24 through November 30 (the same time as our Heavy Metal exhibition). This exhibition will be presented at The Next Picture Show and will showcase dynamic, out-of-the-box pieces.
This show features talented artists who push the bounds of their work to create bold new worlds. Artists are encouraged to explore this work with fresh perspectives, bold colors, dynamic forms, and exciting textures.
Our show is open to both 2-D and 3-D pieces. Artists looking to enter can find out entry form located at the bottom of the page.

This is a juried exhibition! Artists must download an entry form and email their submission pieces to [email protected]. Upon submission, artists are required to include a non-refundable jury fee. TNPS will review all submissions to ensure they align with our guidelines and the exhibitions criteria. Notifications of TNPS decisions will be sent to artists no later than October 18th.
Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces. TNPS reserves the right to select all 3 pieces or choose those that best fit the show’s theme. Our email will specify which works have been chosen. The entry deadline is October 18th. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Debra Cleary is an artist and art educator. She has exhibited her artwork at local galleries and has been a participating artist at fundraisers. She creates abstract paintings that are multilayered, inspired by nature, and incorporate movement, textures, and colors. Debra received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Northern Illinois University and her Master of Art in Art Education from Eastern Illinois University. She has been an art educator in the Amboy, Illinois, school district for the past 26 years, has taught artists ages five to adult, and has been selected to present workshops for fellow art educators at the state and national levels.
Mary Woolf Pearson performs this evening’s live music. She began her love of piano before she could barely reach the keys. Taught by her creative mother from age two, Mary was classically trained and finessed her unique interpretive style from there. Mary upholds her own private instruction studio in Byron, IL, and continues as a church music director, both of which she has done for 20+ years. She earned a BA in Psychology with a concentration in Music, and several complimentary music courses in her repertoire.
