17TH REGIONAL SURVEY OF ART: Jan. 6-Feb 27, 2021

Awards for the 17th Regional Survey of Art Exhibit have been announced with eight local and regional artists recognized in the first art show of the year now on display on the main level of the art gallery.

The Regional Survey of Art set a new record for TNPS with 95 pieces of art covering the walls of the art center. The exhibit offers a wide variety of mediums such as acrylic, alcohol ink, clay sculpture, cold wax & oil, colored pencil, digital photography, graphite pencil, oil on canvas, paper collage, charcoal, pastel, pen, and watercolor.

Awards judge, Ellen Allen, acknowledged the following artists for their entries. 

  • Best of Show to Sycamore based artist Carol Bingham for her oil on canvas “Not a Drop of Rain”

  • First Place to Irene Bockman of DeKalb, for the watercolor “Nature’s Kiss”

  • Second Place to Dick Cholke of Pecatonica for “Early Morning Tug" a work in watercolor

  • Third Place for the oil on canvas “Galena +1 Street Repair” by Becky Hundrieser of Dixon.

  • Honorable Mention to Karen Tucker of Grand Detour for “Poinsettia”
  • Honorable Mention to Kitto of Dixon for “A Moment”
  • Honorable Mention to Larry Bond of Sycamore for “Estate Entry”
  • Honorable Mention to Kent Broadbent of Annawan for “Something Here”
  • Honorable Mention to David Bingaman of Dixon for “Alligator Eye”

Allen said, “It’s been exciting to judge this show and see how busy and productive these artists have been during a very trying time. A Regional Show, requiring no subject or media, demands that each piece be judged on its’ use of the medium to communicate and the success of that communication. I’d like to commend all of the artists.”
